During his tenure, he implemented a paperless system that increased port efficiency and government revenue, resulting in a 24% increase in Tema Port revenues in 2018. He also successfully curtailed fraud and pilferage, leading the port to win the Best Improved Port in West Africa award for 2018. Additionally, he was appointed by the President of Ghana as the Acting Director General of GPHA.
In the United States, Mr. Osei has significant experience in both academia and private practice, establishing himself as a notable business law attorney. He was an Assistant Professor of Law at Widener University Law School, where he lectured on Contracts, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Taxation. As a partner at the Law Firm of Osei & Nelson, he practiced in corporate law, taxation, and real estate, negotiating and closing various business transactions. His expertise as a corporate law expert also includes roles as a Judicial Law Clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as an Associate at Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, where he managed transactional due diligence and closed M&A transactions.
Before his legal career, Mr. Osei held senior leadership roles in major corporations. At AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, he was a Market Strategy Manager who developed contracting strategies that generated $200 million in sales. As a Senior Manager of Business Planning and M&A at Bristol Myers Squibb, he performed financial analysis and due diligence for global acquisitions.
His experience in international business is further demonstrated by his time at Pepsi Cola International, where he served as Manager of Planning for South Africa and a Senior Business Planner. He crafted a competitive strategy that resulted in a 5% gain in market share and structured major joint venture projects in multiple countries. He also worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at Eastman Kodak Company, providing valuable legal services in New York and beyond.
